The Ometz organization has turned to the Supreme Court against the Defense Ministry following a Channel 10 News report. The report cited that Defense Ministry employs 270 staff members in New York at an annual cost of $30 million. The petition seeks court intervention to compel Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon to reduce the number the ministry employees in New York.

The petition cites that in line with government cuts in Israel, it would be appropriate for the ministry to reduce the number of employees operating in New York, without compromising state security of course.
