Britain is advising its citizens traveling to “Israel or the West Bank and Gaza in Palestine” to make sure that have been vaccinated against polio in the past decade.
After the polio virus has been found in sewage systems around Israel, the Ministry of Health launched a nationwide campaign to give the polio oral vaccination booster to children around the country.
Health officials in Israel report that to date, 53.87% of the children who are supposed to receive the booster have done so, representing 750,000 children of the 1.4 million who require the booster. In Yerushalayim for example, only 38.33% of the children have been vaccinated.

Due to the fact that polio spreads through the fecal-oral route (i.e. the virus is transmitted from the stool of an infected person to the mouth of another person through a contaminated object, e.g. utensil) focusing on hygiene, sanitation and proper nutrition (to support innate immunity) is a logical way to prevent transmission in the first place, as well as reducing morbidity associated with an infection when it does occur.
Instead, a large portion of the world’s vaccines are given to the third world such as Israel as “charity,” when the underlying conditions of economic impoverishment, poor nutrition, chemical exposures, and socio-political unrest are never addressed. You simply can’t vaccinate people out of these conditions, and as India’s new epidemic of vaccine-induced polio cases clearly demonstrates, the “cure” may be far worse than the disease itself. No. 1: When did Israel get demoted to Third World status? And who authorized you to do so?
And why did polio disappear from the US and other developed countries in the early 1950’s, following the use of the Salk vaccine – not because the “underlying conditions of economic impoverishment, poor nutrition, chemical exposures and socio-political unrest” were suddenly addressed. It was because the vaccine worked, and its successors continue to work. You sound like another misguided anti-vaccine fear monger.
