Ichud Hatzalah officials reported on Monday, 12 Tishrei 5774 that a 70-year-old man who fell from a tree on Kesuto Street in Yerushalayim lost consciousness as a result.
The first EMTs on the scene found the man under a date palm from which he fell, apparently while trying to cut down scach for his sukka. They reported he sustained injuries to his upper body. He was transported to a city hospital listed in serious condition.
Ichud Jerusalem Commander Miki Cohen reports the ambucycles were first on the scene and they began treating and stabilizing the patient as they awaited the MDA ambulance for transport. Cohen stressed that with yomtov on the horizon people must exercise caution when building, decorating and dealing with the preparations surrounding the sukka. He said “to my sorrow, there have already been a number of cases involving injury in Yerushalayim as the tzibur prepares their sukkas.”
In another case, Ichud Hatzalah reports that a young man fell from a ladder on Rambam Street in Tifrach. He sustained a head injury. He was transported to the trauma unit of Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva in an altered mental state.
