Bloomberg Touts NYC’s Post-9/11 Revival

bloNew York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is touting the rebuilding efforts at the World Trade Center site — and all of Lower Manhattan — in the 12 years since the terrorist attacks.

But Bloomberg warned on Thursday that the threat of terrorism “is not going away.”

When Bloomberg took office in January 2001, the World Trade Center site was still smoldering and there was doubt the city could recover. He says now the era of “post-9/11 uncertainty” is over.

Bloomberg says the population of downtown has tripled since 2001 and the area is home to hotels, schools and parks.

Both the 9/11 museum and One World Trade Center are set to open next year.

Bloomberg was speaking to the Downtown Alliance, which manages the area’s Business Improvement District.
