PHOTOS: Joe Lhota Visits The Ohel Of The Lubavitcher Rabbi

lhota ohel 6[PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE] Republican mayoral hopeful Joseph Lhota visited, Thursday morning, the grave of the late Lubavitcher Rebbe z”l in Queens. Mr. Lhota lit a candle, recited a few chapters of Tehilim (psalms) and dropped in a kvitel (personal wish) at the Ohel.

Mr. Lhota, who won handily the Republican primary for mayor, was accompanied by Rabbi Yitzchok Hecht, from the NCFJE and director of Chabad of Ulster County; Rabbi Ya’acov Behrman, a Crown Heights political activist and the former director of media relations for Chabad headquarters and his Jewish Liaison, Michael Fragin.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Lhota said he was following up on an earlier invitation. Since the primaries were over, he said he felt it would be the appropriate time to visit the graveside of the Late Lubavitcher Rebbe and fill out a personal blessing “for the future of the great City of New York.”

  1. He’s Jewish with a Jewish mother and maternal grandmother. Maybe the Lubavitchers can return him to the faith of his ancestors.
