Six Arab residents of Jerusalem’s Beit Tzefafa neighborhood have been arrested for their alleged involvement in an assault against Jewish youths in the capital. The suspects in custody range in age from 20-40. Police believe they assaulted Jews in the Katamon neighborhood a number of days ago.
Police posit the suspects arrived at St. Martin Street and attacked three Jews to take out their wrath, which was directed at other Jews with whom that had a verbal confrontation with a day earlier. The Arabs were seated in a vehicle in the Gonen neighborhood playing loud music from their vehicle and verbally accosting Jewish females. This led to a confrontation with a group of Jews who decided to act to chase them from the area.
It appears the suspects returned to the area in search of the very same Jews who ousted them from the area earlier but when they could not be found, the six made due attacking any Jews. They jumped the three and began beating them. One required medical attention.
The six are now in custody and have been brought before the Jerusalem Magistrate Court for a remand hearing.
