Beginning on Wednesday, 7 Tishrei 5774 temperatures began climbing throughout Eretz Yisrael as the weatherman predicts an unseasonably hot Yom Kippur. The heat will begin increasing significantly beginning with the afternoon hours, with some Yom Kippur forecasts predicting soaring temperatures expected to reach 40C (104F).
Health Ministry officials on Wednesday issued an alert, particularly for the elderly and residents with chronic pulmonary and/or cardiac illness. The weather service forecast for the coming days as follows (in Fahrenheit).
