New York City’s police commissioner says the city remains “an enduring target” 12 years after the 2001 terrorist attacks.
Commissioner Raymond Kelly says there is desire to create mayhem in New York because it’s seen as a communications and financial capital of the world.
Kelly says it’s the consensus of the intelligence community that New York remains the No. 1 terrorist target in the United States.
He made his comments on the NBC “Today” show prior to the start of the 9/11 ceremony at the trade center site.
Rudy Giuliani, who was mayor during 9/11, says the world is safer from terrorism today because of extra security measures. But he says there are also all kinds of active terrorist groups and factions around the globe.
