The Ministry of Transportation gave the okay, permitting bus service in Haifa on the first day of Rosh Hashanah. According to a HaMevaser report, that marked the first time that buses ran on Rosh Hashanah in the Jewish area on yomtov.
The Metronit ran on schedule, every half hour the entire day, News1 reported. Officials involved in providing the bus service on erev yomtov confirmed the report that it was scheduled to run buses every half hour, a Shabbos schedule as they refer to it.
HaMevaser turned to the ministry for a response to the gross violation of the religious status quo but it did not receive a response by press time.
