As the media paints an increasingly worrisome picture regarding a possible military action against Syria, more and more Israelis have decided to get a gas mask personal protect kit. Officials in the Israel Postal Authority, assigned with distributing the kits, report a sharp increase in demand on Sunday, 19 Elul 5773.

Officials report that telephone inquiries have increase fourfold while three times as many people as usual came to centers to get a kit. Some of the stations remained open later, until 19:30 and even 20:00. There are currently five stations nationwide along with a number of mobile traveling stations. One may also have the kits delivered to one’s home by phoning *2237 or 03-713-3880. There is a charge for the delivery service.

IDF Homefront officials report that 40% of the country does not have a gasmask at present.
