In the race for City Council in the 48th District, the New York City chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) has endorsed Ari Kagan. Founded in 1955, the NASW is the largest membership association for social workers in the world, and the NYC chapter has over 9,000 members.
“As a journalist and community advocate, Ari Kagan has always been a strong voice for Social Workers and the communities they serve,” said Bill Latimer, LCSW, PACE Co-Chair. “Ari understands the difficult, and important work that Social Workers do, and is committed to giving us the support we need to better serve families, children, seniors, the homeless, and individuals with substance abuse problems. It is our pleasure to support Ari, and look forward to working with him over the coming years.”
“Social Workers play a vital role in our community, and they deserve our support and respect,” said Kagan. “I will be a strong voice in the City Council for social workers, and the vulnerable and families populations they serve. NASW members are among the most active and engaged members of our community, and I’m deeply honored that they’re supporting my candidacy. The work they do supports those in need, those in distress, and all of our neighborhoods.”

When talking about all “those in need” – all “those in distress”and “all of our neighborhoods” you would be fooling yourself if you voted for anyone else other than Chaim Deutsch. Realistically he is the only candidate who can accomplish that!
I would think that Chaim Deutsch also undertands the Important work that Social Workers do for our community. Chaim Deutsch has always helped people in need. Infact as the founder of the Flabush Shomrim Patrol Chaim Deustch was involved in finding people that were missing numerous times. Therefore it’s time for voters of the 48th CD to pay Chaim Deutsch back in his time of need by voting for him in the upcoming Democratic Primary on Tuesday September 10, 2013. The latest poll is showing this to be a very close race between Chaim Deutsch & Ari Cagan & therefore every vote will count.
This is the first time I’ve heard of the NASW endorsing a candidate for NY City Council. I wonder how many of it’s members even live within the 48th Council District.
The best choice for us is clearly one of our own who has a long record of civic involvment and accomplishment, Chaim Deutsch. He’s someone that I trust without reservation. Unfortunatly, I can’t vote for him because I don’t live in the district.
