Prominent individuals in the Shuvu Banim Yeshiva leadership were arrested about ten days ago, the result of a police investigation into alleged money laundering, tax fraud and related white collar crimes.
The Jerusalem Magistrate Court on Thursday, 16 Elul 5773 extended the remand of Nachman Berland and his son Nosson for five days. Nachman is a son of Rabbi Eliezer Berland who fled to Morocco to avoid arrest on other charges.
Two others were ordered to remain behind bars for another five days as well. A fifth defendant, was released to house arrest. Police did not object to his release. The investigation continues.
