Rabbi Eliezer Berland will not be traveling to Uman to be mispallel at the tziyun of Rav Nachman ZT”L, Maariv reports.
The rav, who is wanted in Israel for alleged crimes fears that if he travels to Uman he may be arrested and extradited by Interpol.
The rav is among the first mispallalim traveling to Uman for Rosh Hashanah, even during the time of the USSR and the Iron Curtain. He now resides in Morocco after fleeing Eretz Yisrael.

This is pretty routine in Israel. If you threaten the power of the governing elite, they sic the Police on you.
Remeber what happened to Aryeh Deri when he successfully organized the Sfardim into the Shas party.

There are some strong allegations about R’ Berland, supposedly by some of his previous followers.

#1 Do you know anything about why this Rav is in Morocco?
It is best for him not to travel to Uman, he will be arrested, indicted and tried in Israel.. Eventually he will have to give up being in exile.
Just review the history of politicians indicted in Israel. It’s virtually the same story every time. The Police call in the target for questioning. He is demonized by the media. He is no longer a problem for his opponents.
In his recent book, Rabbi Shlomo lawrence, Z”L, of Agudas yisroel told of an attempted frame-up against him by no less than the Attoney General of Israel, Chaim Cohen. The charge was mismanagement of funds. lawrence produced the checks and called a press conference to demonstrate his innocence.
Nevertheless, his Mizrahi colleagues advised him to accept a suspension from his Knesset duties and allow the Attorney General to go through with the trial, in order to “protect the honor of the Government.”
When lawrence asked the Brisker Rav what to do, the Rav said: “Don’t you dare suspend your activities in the Knesset, pending trial. That is the sole purpose of this false accusation. They feel you’re getting too powerful and influential, and this is their way of cutting you down to size.”
Lawrence gave a blistering speech in the Knesset, and the Government backed down and apologized.
So, you see, this is standard Modus Operandi whenever anyone becomes too big in Israel.–You accuse him of something, even arranging for false witnesses, if necessary, as in the case of Aryeh Deri.
Rabbi Berland is an authentic Tzaddik.he has become too influential, and, in my opinion, the Government is up toits old tricks.

You are right that if they want to get rid of you in Israel they will trump up mismanagement of funds. But sexual misconduct and thuggery is something else altogether.
