Anthony Weiner is taking some heat for calling an opponent at a New York City mayoral forum “grandpa.”
AARP state director Beth Finkel says the organization found some comments at the forum it sponsored “unfortunate.”
The exchange between 69-year-old Republican candidate George McDonald and the 48-year-old Democrat was caught on camera by the TV station NY1.
After Weiner touched McDonald’s chest in greeting, McDonald barked, “Don’t put your hands on me ever again.”
Weiner responded by telling McDonald he has “anger issues.”
When McDonald disagreed, Weiner said, “Yes, you do, Grandpa.”
Finkel said Wednesday that a person’s age “should not be a factor in politics, or anything else.” AARP was formerly known as the American Association of Retired Persons.

Lol anthony weiner: “if you’re cheating we want you out of this country.”
Why is anyone surprised at Weiners running mouth. Recall his embarrasing rant on the floor of congress which was an embarrassment to his constituents. Gov. Cuomo was right, it is our shame if he is even considered for office. would we permit him into a classroom given his preversion? Can we hold him up as a role model to our chidren given his lying when confronted? Mc donald was right he never earned anything and in fact was an inadequate representative of his community. Check his views: civilian trials for terrorrist, according them full constatutional rights, voted for every tax increase presented/ How many bills did he author? Speak to his staff about anger issues. he meant grandpa and should be held accountable.
Why do they even debate him? This weiner fellow should just be ignored. he should be boycotted by every politician. the media should be let known that if he is invited to ANY forum or debate or news conference, ALL politicians will boycott the event. Period!
