In a Knesset address, Bayit Yehudi party leader Minister Naftali Bennett speaks of “making history” as he speaks of the National Referendum bill. He tells his colleagues that “yes, I tell the truth, I am opposed to a Palestinian state and dividing the land”.
He addresses that some believe Arik Sharon’s derech of dividing the land is correct, and some are willing to subject themselves to political corruption to achieve this goal.
Amid shouts from Arab MKs Bennett responds “Eretz Yisrael belongs to Am Yisrael, to us.”
Responding to heckling from Shas, Bennett adds “I hear Shas trying to teach me. On your backs we have Oslo. Aryeh Deri, you brought Oslo!”
Bennett has a difficult time speaking as the heckling is widespread, from Arab and chareidi MKs alike. The Arab MKs are determined to interrupt him as he states “Eretz Yisrael is ours, the Jewish People”.
As the Arab MKs insisted the majority of the nation opposes his view, Bennett asks them “Then what are you afraid of? If this is the case, you will win in a national referendum.”

So is the decision to draft the yeshiva students his “payback”? Has the Dati Leumi camp decided that living in the West Bank is now the most important mitzvah, replacing Learning Torah?
Or is Bennett revealing himself as an extremist who is out of touch with his followers?
It’s payback and rationalizing why he is doing what he is doing. Everyrhing has consequences and bringing back Deri the friend of Chaim Ramon, Ehud Ulmert, and a host of other criminal politicians has consequences too. Eventually the settlers will see that they are getting no where with Bennett and they will move on. Bennett and Nir Birkat are temporary politicians who will last two cycles at most.
Yes, Mr. Bennett. And you brought shmad in Israel. כל המחטיא את חבירו יותר מהורגו. Your sin is that much greater. May you fail in all of your endeavors and be זוכה that all of your children and grandchildren become חרדים and see you for the garbage that you are.
