For Quinn, Weiner Is The Ideal Runoff Rival

weinerUnlike her Democratic rivals, Christine Quinn has always stopped short of calling for Anthony Weiner to bow out. Truth is, she may not want him to go anywhere, the Huffington Post writes.

For the very reason that Mr. Weiner’s scandal ended up giving Quinn much more valuable media exposure, the longer he stays in the race the more chances she has of ending up as the Democratic nominee.

“The debacle that we’ve seen over the last week and a half now, is going to – could potentially – help Quinn if she’s able to embrace it,” New York University political communications professor Jeanne Zaino said Wednesday.

And political experts love Quinn’s chances against Weiner if they are the two candidates to make it into a runoff, which could happen if no one achieves 40 percent of the vote in the Sept. 10 primary.

“That’s the matchup she wants,” Doug Muzzio, political science professor at Baruch College told The Huffington Post. “Her strengths look the best against him, especially since he has again revealed himself to be a self-destructive candidate.”

  1. Is there anyone with moral values and not anti-Semitic to choose from? Otherwise we’re better off not voting for anyone.

  2. My compliments to the author or editor of this portion of the last paragraph: “Her [i.e., Christine Quinn’s] strengths look the best against him [i.e., the aptly named Mr Weiner], especially since he has again revealed himself ….”
