New York City police have arrested a man they say defaced religious sites in Brooklyn with red paint.
Police say a crucifix and statue of Mary at the Church of St. Anselm was spray-painted red sometime Monday night. The vandal also painted statues through Bay Ridge. He also wrote the word ‘no’ on doors of numerous churches and the Bay Ridge Jewish Center.
Police say they plan to charge the suspect with a hate crime. They say they were able to identify him from video taken at one of the scenes.
