New York state police say they conducted special nighttime traffic enforcement against distracted driving this week on the Taconic State Parkway in Westchester County and issued 53 tickets.
They say that included 11 tickets for using a handheld cell phone while driving and seven were issued for texting while driving.
Other alleged traffic infractions resulting in tickets Tuesday evening included speeding, not using seatbelts, improper child restraints and failure to abide by the so-called “move over law.”
That law requires motorists to slow down and, where possible, move one lane over from stopped emergency vehicles like police cruisers with flashing lights on.

Thank God for the troopers; saving potential lives. Believe me, we in the modwest, acutely, R”L, understand the dangers of distracted driving (and walking).
