According to Minister of Public Security Yitzchak Aharonovich, while Israeli Arabs only comprise 20% of the population, that sector is responsible for 40% of the crime in Israel.

Aharonovich was addressing a session of the Knesset Finance Committee on Wednesday, 10 Menachem Av 5773 as the session addressed violence in southern Israel against the state’s razing illegal homes in the Arab sector.

The minister called on lawmakers to crack down towards beefing up law-enforcement in the Arab sector nationwide.
