A load of meat originating in a PA (Palestinian Authority) area, hindquarters weighing 350kg (770LBS) was apprehended by Agriculture Ministry inspectors. The meat was being transported in the trunk of a vehicle driven by a resident of the Israeli Arab municipality of Um el-Fahm. The meat was not in a refrigerated receptacle, simply in cartons heading for Israel. The meat was destroyed by ministry inspectors. In this case, as is often the case, inspectors were acting on a tip.
Officials urge consumers to verify the store they buy meat/poultry in is certified and that meats sold have the proper labels to verify the integrity of the product.
