With a bit less than two months remaining until Rosh Hashanah, the bakers are hard at work preparing the expected tens of thousands of mispallalim who will be spending the yomtov in Uman, at the tziyun of Rav Nachman of Breslov. Rolls and other baked goods are being prepared and frozen as the pre-Rosh Hashanah effort is underway.
Officials explain they must begin this far in advance if they wish to produce enough food for the tens of thousands of guests who will be spending the three day yomtov at the site.

Why did you choose that picture?
There are lots of pictures available of Uman showing the tfila bidvekus, and shiurei Torah. Or the achdus among varied groups. Mechubedike chassidim and talmidei chachomim. Instead you chose a picture of the wildest fringe elements sitting around doing nothing.
Each year the same debate over wasting tens of millions of NIS for a bunch of misguided yidden to leave their families on rosh hashanah and fly off to one of the most anti-semitic countries in the world to party at the kever of rav nachman. Amidst the small number of serious mispallelim, each year there appear to be even larger numbers of new age types and leftover hippies from one of Reb Shlomo’s concerts in the 60s….Perhaps its time to move Rav Nachman’s bones back to EY and use the those tens of millions of NIS to feed the hungary on Rosh Hashanah. That would be a much greater zhchus then the mardi gras style circus that has evolved each year in Uman.
Some of these Hassidim can’t afford to properly feed their children yet they waste $ flying out of Eretz Yisrael to a Kever. Not enough of those in Israel? + add all the gunkies going there to party. Waste real waste.
To those who would like to criticize what happens in Uman maybe you should please state whether you’ve actually been to Uman for Rosh Hashana yourself, or are just making accusations against tens of thousands of your fellow Yidden based on absolute hearsay? Granted there are for sure some partiers going there but to assume that is the majority of the people or even the main reason people go? It is YOU making a mockery of Rebbe Nachman, not the people who follow his instructions to be by him for Rosh Hashana.
It’s not like we are running away from the wife and kids for some fun vacation. It takes a lot of mesirus nefesh to go – I’ve spent multiple years sleeping in a camping tent and sleeping bag (and other years the accommodations weren’t much more luxurious). I, bli ayin hara, have a beautiful family and it’s one of the hardest things to leave them. Even if it’s just for a few days I miss them incredibly. But I go through with all this because it’s worth it for me to be close to my Rebbe whose teachings have literally changed my life and I feel Hashem’s presence in my life more during my davening in Uman than I do anywhere else in my life. Hashem’s hashgacha there is so thick and real you can almost cut it with a knife. You can mock me and others if you like but unless you’ve experienced it for yourself you really have no idea about which you speak.
Additionally, this whole talk people constantly speak about bringing the Rebbe’s kever to Israel is seriously getting old. Learn up the sefarim for yourself instead of just spouting off your own uninformed opinions! The Rebbe z”l himself DAVKA said he didn’t want to be buried in Eretz Yisrael because if he had been nobody would come to him. Uman was the sight where several tens of thousands of Jews gave their lives al-kiddush Hashem rather than convert to yashka and the Rebbe had very specific intentions tied in to the neshamas of these martyrs when he chose to be buried there. Are you holding at such a level that you can say not like him and decide he was making a mistake? Please think, and learn, before you speak.

Because you decided that you are the godol-ha? and big maven on every issue (although the stupidity of your comments are so obvious) but your gadlus is still only self-proclaimed! and really no-one especially the thousands of travelers to uman are not interested in your stupidity mixed with hate! it’s not your money, and your hate is so obvious to deny a fact that the MAJORITY are davening and filling themselves up with tremendous kedusha which you unfortunately never even tasted or came close to kedushe! You have one agenda “Israel” again and again, to such absurd that your sickening mind is fantasizing to bring the holy reb nachman to EY so the atheist government will have one more kever to desecrate! Just MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!

How about all the millions of dollars spent each year on luxury pesach and succos vacations at hotels and resorts and all other yom tovim, shouldn’t these people be using there money to help hungry families instead of luxery yom tov getaways. Uman is not a luxery getaway like #4 has already said. And keep in mind also that if you haven’t been there, you really dont know what your talking about. And to all those people that have a problem with other men leaving there wives and children, before you jump to crazy assumptions that there wives and children are not ok with it, you should probably get proof of what your saying. As a married man that goes to uman with allot of other married men I can say first that all of our wives are maskim and happy for us to go and poor our hearts out for the sake of our families. Of course there are people that go for the wrong reasons but you cant use that as a generalization of people who go to uman. Reb NAchman ZT”L told his chassidim to come to uman even after he passes to be with him for rosh hashana, we are following our Rebbes words the same way any other talomud or chassid would follow theirs.
