The wider Jewish community has been anticipating the opening of the new Kleinman Family Holocaust Education Center in Boro Park. Spearheaded by the philanthropist Elly Kleinman, the new education center’s mission is to present the Jewish experience during the Holocaust in a way that other centers have failed to do, with a special emphasis on the Orthodox Jewish experience. An exciting development in advancing the center’s mission is its newly announced choice of Ami Magazine as its media partner.
That partnership will be multifaceted. A weekly column by the director of the Kleinman Center, Rabbi Sholom Friedmann, formerly of Torah U’Mesorah, will showcase the center’s collections and research. Further, periodic articles will act as a print exhibition of the center’s artifacts, with the magazine acting as a virtual wing of the Kleinman Center.
The first collaboration in Ami Magazine with the Kleinman Center is in this week’s issue. An in-depth interview with Elly Kleinman examines the genesis and planning of the center, and its focus, mission, and techniques for teaching a new generation about the trials and lessons of the twentieth century churban.
