YWN has just been informed by Fallsburg Police Chief Simmy Williams that the NYS DOT will be making some urgent repairs on Route 42 in the Town of Fallsburg, and are asking for people to please avoid the area as much as possible.

Due to the heavy rains this past week, there is serious damage to the roadway in the area of the old Catskill Funland, which must be worked on immediately.

Crews will be working around the clock starting on Wednesday, and there will only be one lane of traffic opened for the duration of repairs near Stewarts at the “Four Corners”.

Work will start on Wednesday morning, and will not be completed until after the weekend.

The Chief says the Police understand that this weekend is visiting day for many camps, and will be doing their utmost to try and keep traffic moving as best as possible, but urges everyone to avoid the area from the “4 Corners” to the Town of South Fallsburg.

“We expect traffic to back up all the way to South Fallsburg, and many people can avoid this by taking detours around the area”.
