As a result of chareidi intervention, Jerusalem City Hall has backed out of paying 110,000 NIS towards partially funding a Tzohar Rabbonim scheduled to be held in Yerushalayim. Deputy Mayor Yitzchak Pindrus sent a letter to city legal officials, explaining that if not for the fact the event will become a de facto election campaign event for Rabbi David Stav, he would not object.
Pindrus explained that from his perspective, the city may not take part in any such event for any of the candidates running in the upcoming elections for new chief rabbis. Pindrus points out that the keynote speaker is Rabbi Stav and the event will provide him an audience of 3,000 people in addition to media coverage.
The city’s top legal advisor accepted Pindrus’ opinion and has instructed City Hall to refrain from taking part in funding the event, Ynet reports.
Tzohar officials explain the event is an annual one and in no way connected to the upcoming election.

If Mr. Pindrus is up-front with his objection, then he is correct and justified.
Pindrus is not up front about anything. That was why the voters of Beitar voted him out. If he blinks there is a political motive behind it.
