The Jerusalem mayoral race may provide an opportunity for former National Religious Party MK Zevulun Orlev to return to the political arena, albeit local, not on the national level.
Orlev, who headed the NRP, was pushed out when Naftali Bennett earned the majority vote among party members. However, a poll conducted last week among eligible Jerusalem dati leumi voters show he is a favorite to head the party in the local election which is scheduled to take place in four months.
The names presented to voters in the poll included Orlev, Dov Kalmanovich (who heads a victims of Arab terror organization), Aryeh King (Ichud Leumi leader in Jerusalem and head of Israel Land Fund), David Hadari (Jerusalem deputy mayor/Bayit Yehudi) and Rabbi Shmuel Moreno. Orlev came out ahead among the names listed.
When asked to comment on the report, Orlev told Srugim that he retired from political life and therefore, he prefers not to comment.
