Manhattan: Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in The Hudson River [UPDATED]


chopFDNY reports a helicopter made an emergency landing in the Hudson River. There were five passengers on board who were safely removed from the aircraft by other civilians on jet skis. The passengers are being transported to the 79th Street Boat Basin.

FDNY EMS is evaluating the passengers and pilot all have been labeled patients with minor injuries.

NYPD is conducting an investigation.

The helicopter is floating upright and has been towed to shore. The Coast Guard has been notified and en-route.

UPDATE: The helicopter is owned by the New York Helicopter Tours and departed from the Wall Street Heliport. The helicopter experienced engine trouble within the first 10 minutes of the flight and was forced to make an emergency landing in the Henry Hudson River

The five passengers were removed from the water by private civilian vessels and safely transported to the 79th Street Boat Basin.

FDNY EMS evaluated the patients and four patients were transported to an area hospital for precautionary reasons. All patients were in stable condition. The pilot remains on scene to assist with the on-going investigation.

NTSB is aware of the incident. The FAA is responding.
