Due to the ongoing police investigation against him, Rabbi Yonah Metzger will not be permitted to vote in the upcoming race to elected new chief rabbis. State Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein on Monday, 16 Tammuz 5773 stripped Rabbi Metzger of his voting authority in the election, handing it over to Rishon L’Tzion Shlomo Moshe Amar.
In addition, Weinstein ruled that Minister of Religious Services Naftali Bennett is prohibited to consult with Rabbi Metzger regarding his ten appointments to the voting body and Rabbi Metzger may not appoint members of the voting body as he should do because of the ongoing case against him.
The court on Monday, 16 Tammuz extended Rabbi Metzger’s house arrest for an additional three days.

There you have it. That was the perpose of the whole raid.
As far as I understood, he resigned from his posts. So Amar has another 10 votes, wonder what he will do with them……
