12% of Israelis during the last year had to forgo a medical treatment or pharmaceuticals due to the cost. Among the lowest 20% of wage earners, that number stands at 1 in 5. The alarming report refers to treatments and drugs in the national health basket so the payment in question usually ranges from 15-25 NIS, but some simply don’t have it.
10% responded that they did without a medical treatment due to the distance of the clinic. 12% said the reason for not going is the long waiting time. The facts emerged from a Brookdale study involving 2,330 Israelis over the age of 22. On a positive note, 91% of Israelis are satisfied with their HMO (Kupat Cholim).
Leading is the Maccabi HMO, which earned a 95% satisfaction rating followed by Meuchedet (91%) and Leumit (91%) and in last place, Clalit (90%).
Regarding the nationwide health system, only 50% responded that they are confident and trust the system should they contract a serious illness chas v’sholom.

I’m not surprised Maccabi is in first place. I’m not surprised Clalit is in last place. I’m shocked 90% of Clalit’s members are satisfied.
BTW neither do New Yorkers.
Just got a prescription for a skin ointment that costs $200 and no insurance coverage..
Our family belongs to Clalit and we get excellent medical care.
