Look at this image closely, and notice that the Sar HaTorah, HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky is holding a pair of scissors.
On Lag B’Omer, as is customary, many people give their three-year-old children their first haircut (Chaluka). Hundreds of children lined up at the home on Rashbam Street in Bnei Brak to have the Gadol Hador snip their hair.
But Rav Chaim doesn’t waste a minute from learning. So he kept his eyes buried inside a Sefer, with his hands on a scissors, stopping for just a few seconds to snip each child’s hair, and returning to his learning in between each child.

And yet his father would say, “Ich bin nisht a sherer.” Oh well.
Isn’t it beautiful how each gadol knows his generation!
Clearly he holds that one who cuts the hair does not need to wash hands after. Therefore, a frum barber does not need to do netilas yadayim after giving a hair cut. Interesting that only the one whose hair is cut must wash his hands (netilas yadayim),
Why do people bother the Gadol Hador with such narishkeiten? Upshern is not even a litvish minhag. Some people have totally forgotten that. Everyone wants another reason to party. Do they even know the meaning behind the minhag? People used to go to rebbes for this and suddenly LItvishe Roshei Yeshiva and other Gedolim have started doing this. I can’t fathom why. And to Circle, what does this have to do with this generation, beside for their ignorance about the minhag?
yodea tzadik-
these family moments are cherished by the perspective families forever ,
each time a person cuts his hair and leaves peyos is mekayem the mitzva of not doing ” lo sakifu”
the impression of a tzadik on the tinok ..
lastly but not least much needed funds are given to reb chainm to distribute to aniyim hagunim
Does this generationi worship HaShem or the Gedolim?
Yussel, this is not a generation thing. This is the difference between Chasidim and Misnagdim and a reason the Vilna Gaon was so against Chassidus. Nowadays, everyone is becoming Chassidim.
Yussel,
A generation that does not “worship” (or in better words; revere and cherish) it’s Gedolim will not worship Hashem either. The Torah says …’ואהבת את ה, chazal says את אלו תלמידי חכמים. Chaxal further say יהי מורא רבך כמורא שמים. You clearly see the correlation between, in your words – “worshipping” Hashem and adoration and reverence of our cherished Gedolim.
Yussel, you know the answer to that question.:)
Please stop shterring the tzadik. Stop asking him political questions, stop asking him to endorse this tzedaka or that, stop asking him controversial questions when you know what he’ll answer, and stop doing what his father Lehavdil referred to as “bringing your children to see the animals in the zoo”.
