Rumors may be nothing more than just that, unfounded hearsay but there is a growing buzz signaling that Migdal HaEmek Chief Rabbi Yitzchok Dovid Grossman may enter the race to become the next Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel. The rav himself has not made any such announcement but people around are signaling this may be so.
Ladaat quotes people close to the rav saying that he has not reached a decision on the matter of the Chief Rabbinate race. It should be pointed out that when the rav’s father was alive zt”l, he asked him and told the tzibur that he father was strongly opposed him running for the post. He was asked after the petira of his father and responded that his father prohibited him from running and now that he is not alive, he cannot ask if he changed his mind so he cannot run as a candidate for chief rabbi.
