Speaking to Ezra Friedlander on the Saturday Night Dov Hikind Show, Assemblyman Dov Hikind blamed Christine Quinn for allowing Mayor Bloomberg to run for a third term. Unknown of the facts, Mr. Hikind portrayed Ms. Quinn being a friend of the mayor as a foe to the community.
“She played a major role in overturning term limits. The people of the city, including myself, voted for term limits. She, because it was good for her, decided we are going to extend term limits to a third term along with the mayor of the city of New York,” Mr. Hikind countered Mr. Friedlander’s argument of how she had been a friend of the community.
Audio:
“By the way, we basically were told that New York City would disappear if Mayor Bloomberg was not mayor for another four years. I wonder how many people in our community feel that way, in particular in our community. Our community has been shafted by this mayor on many issues and Christine Quinn is his ally, his buddy and his friend,” he added.
Mr. Hikind also blamed Speaker Quinn for the mayor’s decision to only extend priority-7 vouchers for 6 months, in order to get reelected on the back of the Jewish community. “If Christine Quinn is such a good buddy of the mayor, has such a great relationship, how come she couldn’t come across to the mayor how critical vouchers were?” Mr. Hikind angrily charged.
To be precise, Dov Hikind is basically charging the community’s State Senator Simcha Felder, who served as chair of the committee allowing Bloomberg to run for a third term, and a candidate he strongly backed in 2012, as being a foe to the community, based on Mayor Bloomberg’s reelection.
Mr. Hikind may also not be aware of the fact that after his backing Bill Thompson for mayor in 2009, it was Mike Bloomberg that got 13,000 votes in the 48th Assembly district, compared to a mere 3,470 votes his candidate – Mr. Thompson got. This is, more or less, the share of the vote Mr. Hikind got in his most recent reelection bid (3,138), touting his massive support from the community.
