Two Yerushalayim yeshivos are in danger of not opening for the 5774 school year. This would impact 400 talmidim. They occupy the Chazon Yeshaya complex on Rashi Street, but are in totally separate buildings. The schools are the Chazon Yeshaya Talmud Torah and Tiferes Esther Yeshiva for Girls.
About 18 months ago, due to fiscal improprieties in the Chazon Yeshaya nonprofit, the state ordered the Interior Ministry’s unit for non-profits to dissolve the organization. However, attorney Chaggai Ulman decided to permit the schools to continue operating this year, the 5773 school year.
The schools were notified this week by the Ministry of Education and Jerusalem City Hall that Ulman plans to shut them down and they will not be permitted to reopen in Elul 5773.
During recent months a number of non-profits have probed the possibility of taking over the schools despite their debts but this has yet to occur.
Hamodia adds that parents have been uncooperative with efforts to find alternative schools for their children for next year for most feel it is ridiculous to scatter children around Yerushalayim instead of finding a solution for the existing schools.

Fiscal improprieties? In a Yeshiva? Never….
due to fiscal improprieties in the Chazon Yeshaya nonprofit-?????
Can’t blame this ONE on the new government, can we?
Is there something going on that is being reported? Schools go broke all the time. The usual solution is someone sets up a new corporate entity, rents the building, hires the teachers and enrolls the students. Why isn’t this happening?
