Joe Lhota’s mayoral campaign received a boost today with the announcement that former New York City Congressman Bob Turner has endorsed his candidacy. Mr. Turner, who was internationally recognized following his astounding win in the 9th congressional district in 2011, was the first Republican to hold the Queens and Brooklyn congressional seat since 1912.
“I’ve lived in Queens my entire life and I’ve seen the transformation this city has undergone over the past twenty years,” said former Congressman Turner. “Our rebirth was a direct result of the policies coming out of City Hall and the selection of our next mayor will decide if we continue on that path or go back to a city filled with crime and economic depression.”
He continued, “The Republican Party is fortunate to have three good candidates, but Joe’s impressive background in both the public and private sector makes him uniquely suited to be our next mayor. I’m proud to endorse him.”
“Bob Turner is someone for whom I have much admiration and respect,” said Mr. Lhota. “Although his time in congress was cut too short, he accomplished a great deal for the people of this city. I’m grateful for his support and look forward to campaigning with him throughout Queens and Brooklyn as I lay out my vision as the city’s next mayor.”

Please remember that Mr. Turner a political novice, almost unseated mr. weiner in large measure because he, not Mr. Weiner ,represented the views of the voters in his district and not the democratic leadership
