5,439 trucks truckloads of goods were imported into Gaza in May 2013, IDF officials report. This includes 1,441 truckloads of construction materials
A total of 5,439 trucks carrying 146,829 tons of goods entered Gaza from Israel through the Kerem Shalom Crossing in April. The imported goods included 1,441 truckloads of construction materials.
Also last month, 54 truckloads of goods were exported from Gaza for sale in foreign markets. The goods – including packaging equipment, flowers and spices – were first transferred to Israel via the Kerem Shalom Crossing and then shipped abroad.
Throughout May, 5,785 Palestinians entered Israel through the Erez Crossing. Among those who crossed from Gaza into Israel were businesspeople and patients seeking medical care in Israeli hospitals.
Since 2010, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) has approved 261 internationally sponsored projects for the benefit of Gaza’s civilian population, of which 90 have already been completed and 81 are currently underway.
