Accompanied by his Jewish liaison Morty Avigdor, Mr. Weiner took time off his regular campaign schedule, Thursday afternoon, to meet with the Munkatcher Rebbe, Rabbi Moshe Leib Rabinovich, in Borough Park. The Rebbe of Munkatch is one of the prominent and respected leaders in the Hasidic community.
While it was not the place to receive an endorsement, the Rebbe expressed his deep gratitude for the help the community has received from Mr. Weiner when he served as Congressman. In addition to a blessing, the Rebbe also drew a clear distinction between Mr. Weiner and his competitors. “I know one Mr. Weiner. Anytime we asked him for anything he was always there. That’s all that interests me,” the Rebbe said.
“Is it politically correct for me to ask for [a Brocho (a blessing)],” Mr. Weiner asked the Rebbe. “Yes. Even if it’s not,” the Rebbe responded, stretching out a hand to bless the candidate running for mayor of NYC lots of success.
With regard to the issue of Metzitzah B’peh, Mr. Weiner reminded the Rebbe that he was the first one, in 2005, to express concern of the government imposing regulation on the traditional practice. “It is the responsibility of the government to walk with a very light touch when it deals with anything that has to do with religion,” he said.
Expressing a sense of empathy, Mr. Weiner added, “The community wants the sense, not that you are always get their way, but they are always going to have their say. They always are going to have an opportunity to make their voice heard.
When asked by Rabbi Berish Freilich whether there’s a law that the mayor can overturn the regulation, Mr. Weiner answered: “Certainly.”
“A regulation by the department of health is an administrative act. It is not under a legal consent decree or under a state law. It is something that was done by the health department.”
Later in the evening following a town hall meeting in Canarsie, Mr. Weiner told reporters he reserves the right to overturn the Metztizah B’peh regulation.

It’s outrageous how so many frum Jews are supporting this candidate. If it were a female candidate who revealed her undergarments on camera and video, the “blessings” and endorsements wouldn’t be pouring out as quickly. It was wrong what he did. Looking aside that, I do not admire his liberal politics.
Money talks and Aveirah walks.
Al Sheloisha devorim haoilam oimeid, Al gelt veal Gelt and noch amohl gelt
Its all about money
Anthony had done a lot for the yiddishe community for decades. He deserves our hakaros hatov.
We should be ashamed as a community. A person who we would shudder to hold up as a role model to our children;a person who when confronted by the facts of his”activities” lied; a person whose positions in Congress( not at meetings at which he is trying to garner votes) has been at variance on most issues with those of his constituents;a person whose rants on the floor of the house brought his congesstional district( you and I) into disrepute ,can be ” endorsed” or even permitted to sit at the same table or be in the same room as a great rabbi should shame us.and what was the help- a few shekels? By the way he is not halachically Jewish.
This candidate is a SHAM, stands for immorality, looseness in marriages and unethical behavior. Doesn’t that count for at least a dime?
isn’t his wife a non Jewish Muslim?
“Anytime we asked him for anything he was always there”.
“THAT’S ALL THAT INTERESTS ME” $$$$$$$$$!
What?
Hashem Yeracheim! That comment tieches up the whole matzav!
it seems to me that the choice comes down to Quinn or Weiner. Which is the lesser of the two evils?
not that I’m a supporter of Mr Weiner; but it seems to me that some Yidden tend to think that when we vote for someone for office that somehow we’re seeking to elect Sanhedrin or the Anshe Knesses Hagdolah. We live in a non-Jewish country in golus & we need to do our hishtadlus to try elect those who would best meet the needs of our community. Perhaps that’s what the Rebbe is thinking about. No doubt other candidates will visit him as well.
To all the above commenters: calm down, pull up a chair & get comfortable. We’re just getting started. Wait till Ezra Freidlander starts taking his girl, Ms. Quinn, on the rounds to the Rebbe’s & “leaders”. You will need to save your barf bags from your next flight! You will be needing it!
How does what he did compare to what Quinn does in her daily life? It’s not clear to me why he did what he did, but guess what… We are not electing him shul president. How is he on first amendment … Milah… All else is nonsense. B”H for the leadership of Admu”r!
For all of you people who are speaking against Anthony Weiner, make sure you know shmiras halashon backwards and forwards.
