Bnei Brak: Chareidi in Custody Following Axe Threat

arrestA 46-year-old Bnei Brak resident described as “chareidi” was taken into custody for allegedly threatening women living a lifestyle which the Torah describes “Toeiva” with an axe on Lillianbaum Street in Tel Aviv.

Police report the suspect threatened a group of women with an axe close to midnight as they were waiting to enter a pub. The man reportedly shouted at them “we must fix Tel Aviv” and then fled in a car. Police were summoned and he was arrested later in the night. He is being remanded in a magistrate court on Wednesday morning 27 Sivan 5773.

The incident occurred two days before Tel Aviv will be hosting the city’s annual to’eva parade.

  1. Could anyone please tell me what the point is in YWN posting this story. Is there anything that could be learned from this story??!! Do they just want to speak bad against jews, I’m sure they could find more interesting juicy stories to speak about.

  2. 1. Who is his rebbe? Is he part of some organization (probably not, since the police would have boasted about arresting them)?

    2. What was a Hareidi doing with an ax on Lillianbaum Street? He would have been stopped. You can’t just go strolling with your ax.

    3. How could he tell the difference between a female engaged in a “Toeiva” relationship (which isn’t as big a deal by halacha as males) as opposed to a female engaged in all sorts of “straight” perversions that occur in that area. This fact makes me question the authenticty of the official account.

  3. “chareidi” literally means “trembling” and he has what to tremble about, having been remanded into custody, and probably on his way to some jail for a long while, possibly via a Psychiatric ward.

  4. #3 Many self-proclaimed savior’s do NOT have rebbes, an Axe can be hidden in the pocket of any langee zache.

  5. #5 –

It is important to know whether he is nut case, or a terrorist looking for a soft target. Some have already called for a violent response to the “war” against the hareidi community. Especially if he was planning to attack a brothel (most of his “residents” are not their voluntarily, which will come out if they are hospitalized), this would be a sign of a new sort of anti-hiloni violence. The attack on two female homosexuals sounds like a “story” and doesn’t sound realistic.

A hareidi in a long coat in a “red light” district would stick out like a sore thumb

  6. I think it’s disgusting that this woman was, “living a lifestyle which the Torah describes “Toeiva” with an axe”. Also sounds painful! (Is there an editor in the house?)

  7. It is clear that this person is more “mental” than “Chareidi” and needs help.

However, with that said, we really have to look inwardly and ask ourselves if our feelings towards these sinners is perhaps a little too overboard. We have to remember that these people haven’t got the faintest idea what Torah really is and are EXTREMELY affected by the western mentality that embraces so many impure idealisms. Our hatred needs to be directed towards the sin and the ill affects of outside influences on them, not towards these foolish ignorant people who are liken to a sick dog that keeps eating its barf.

  8. “why does Israel have to have this disgusting parade???”

If the Christian nation of the USA can put up with the disgusting Israel Day parade, you can put up with this parade.

  9. the Torah doesn’t describe toeiva with regard to women. The psukim are specifically toward men. Just saying.

  10. I see the commentariat here has been doing its regularly scheduled job of playing the “No True Scotsman” fallacy…
