The Knesset is not a very respected institute in Israel according to surveys released in recent years. The incident in which Education Minister Shai Piron (Yesh Atid) lost control and simply laughed himself off the podium is not going to place the Israeli parliament in a better light in the eyes of most Israelis.
Even stranger is the fact that the topic being discussed by the minister addresses smuggling of dangerous objects and weapons into prisons, far from a laughing matter. His laughter led to MKs attending the session to follow his lead and efforts to regain his composure were in vain.
MK (Yahadut Hatorah) Moshe Gafne did not miss the opportunity, shouting “It is obvious that he hasn’t a clue as to what he is talking about.”
Acting Speaker MK Moshe Feiglin permitted Welfare Minister Meir Cohen to replace Piron to address the matter at hand.
Whatever the case, Piron is now the laughingstock and the video has gone viral, making the rounds and it will undoubtedly be picked up as prime material for political satire programs.

The Italian parliament is funnier, but unfortunately the details are inappropriate on YWN.

Mr. Piron was a laughingstock long before this most recent public embarrassing outburst of his.
He found the word “Penetrate” funny.
Give the guy a break. Something struck his funny bone. So he’s human….big deal. Besides, a little levity doesn’t hurt anything.
When you have a session late at night people tend to get giddy.
That said I did enjoy laughing, this I believe would go under the “daily dose of zen” on the daily show….
