In the face of a continuing rise of anti-Semitic incidents around the world, the Israeli Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Ministry for Jerusalem & Diaspora Affairs will convene a three day conference beginning on Tuesday, 19 Sivan 5773, to develop a specific and proactive plan of response. To be attended by over 500 delegates from more than 50 nations and representing six religions, this will be the one of the largest events of its type.
The Forum will be held at the Jerusalem Ramada Hotel from Tuesday evening, thru Thursday, 21 Sivan.
Ambassador Gideon Behar, Conference Chair and Director of the Department for Combating Anti-Semitism and Holocaust Remembrance at the MFA says, “The time for simply monitoring and discussing the growth of anti-Semitism is over. Now we need to come together to determine what actions need to be taken to counter this alarming trend and to move quickly forward with their execution.”
A sizable representation is expected from the Muslim world and addressing anti-Semitism in Arab countries will be a special focus of the program.
The Forum will be opened with addresses by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ze’ev Elkin and Minister for Jerusalem & Diaspora Affairs Naftali Bennett as well as an address from the Speaker of the Knesset Yuli Edelstein.
“The international community must be united in how we address racism and anti-Semitism and how we strive for more dialogue and tolerance and mutual respect,” emphasized Ambassador Behar.
