Maranan Rabbanan Gedolei Yisrael Shlita have released a call for a minimum study of a half hour of Halacha daily. In the kol korei signed by HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Nissim Karelitz Shlita, and HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein Shlita call for the daily study of Halacha, particularly halachos that are pertinent to our day-to-day lives and Shabbos. Family heads are urged to teach their children Halachos pertinent to day-to-day life too.

In accordance with this Kol Koreh, a Chareidi bochur can learn 400 percent more than the minimum time requirement and still find time serve in the IDF and/or some alternative form of public service.
