According to the Turkish daily Zaman, families of those killed in the 2010 Marvi Marmara naval commando operation are unwilling to drop their lawsuits against IDF commanders. This would be a deal- breaker for the deal in the works in which Israel will compensate the families of victims as well as restore diplomatic and military ties to what they were prior to the event.
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc, who is quoted by Zaman, confirms that if the deal between Ankara and Jerusalem is to be closed, the plaintiffs will have to agree to withdraw their legal action. Arinc explained that dropping all legal action would be a prerequisite to receiving any compensatory payment in the deal.
