A 40-year-old German national tried to grab a weapon from a border guard at the Yitzchak Rabin Crossing between Israel and Jordan. Other security personnel stationed at the crossing succeeded in overpowering the attacker, who was taken into custody.
The tourist left Israel for a brief visit to Jordan. Upon his return to Israel he was asked to open his bag for inspection. His refusal to comply led to the border guard becoming suspicious. The tourist reportedly became agitated and then unruly, and as he thrashed about he tried grabbing a guard’s weapon. The alarm was sounded and he was quickly subdued and placed under arrest and taken for questioning. There were no injuries reported.
