Rabbonim representing the Tekuma faction of Bayit Yehudi sent party leader Minister Naftali Bennett a letter pertaining to planned cuts from budgets of chareidi yeshivos. The letter, dated Wednesday, 21 Iyar 5773, warns Bennett not to “dare to play a role” in removing budgets from yeshivos. Signed on the letter are HaGaon HaRav Dov Lior Shlita, Rabbi Chaim Steiner, Rabbi Isser Klonsky and Rabbi David Chai Cohen.
“We feel it proper to state emphatically that those involved in limud Torah lishma, without conditions or restrictions are the source of life and oxygen for the Am Yisrael’s existence.”
The rabbonim add “we may not be partners in harming the funding for these mosdos, from the Zionist or chareidi tzibur, whether talmidei torah, yeshivos ketanos or gedolos.”
The rabbonim continue, referring to efforts to impose economic sanctions against mosdos unwilling to accept the introduction of core subjects in their curriculum, instructing Bayit Yehudi to “vehemently” oppose this for it is “unjust”.
The rabbonim also expressed their opposition to efforts to expand the voting body for the nation’s chief rabbis. They feel that without the rabbonim directing a change in the system it will only serve to weaken and diminish the status of the chief rabbis and the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.

Wouldn’t “without conditions or restrictions” mean without money?
#1-
It means without requirements to include secular studies, and without quotas of Talmidim being drafted etc.
How will these Rashiom like if the Charedi were the majority and they said to take away all funding for theatres, and colleges??????

As if the open political wheeling and dealing, much of it reported right here on YWN, hasn’t alredy diminished their status?
“without requirements to include secular studies”
Chareidi yeshivot in much of the world include a strong secular studies curriculum, usually in return for government funding. That was supposed to have been the case in Israel, too. This is really independent of the military service issue.
Baruch HaShem that this finally came in letter form. The Yeshivas are the life blood of Am Yisrael!

WHICH RASHIOM are you referring to? There are segments of Charedi who attend symphonies, book fairs, torah-based plays and even vocational schools. So grow up!!!
