The NYPD is maintaining tight security around the city after the arrest of the second marathon bombing suspect, including two runs scheduled for this weekend.
The ‘Run For The Parks’ benefit is being held at Central Park Sunday.
At Rumsey Playfield, runners are being asked not to bring bags with them for the run.
They’ll also have to pass through security screenings.
And garbage cans along the route will be removed.
The runners in Central Park will honor the victims of the Boston bombings this weekend by wearing black ribbons and “I Run For Boston” shirts.
They will also hold a moment of silence at the start of the race.
The increased security presence is being felt around the city, but security experts say events should go on as planned.
Since Monday police have beefed up patrols at hotels, landmarks, the Financial District and Times Square.
In the last 12 years, terrorists have targeted New York City, 16 separate times.
