The NYPD has just charged Ruben Ubiles with ‘hate crime’ charges, in the burning of Mezuzos in Williamsburg.
As was first reported by YWN, eleven mezuzahs were found vandalized on Monday in one building on Taylor Street, and another a day later in a building on Clymer Street.
Authorities say Ruben Ubiles, 35, was seen on surveillance cameras lighting a match in one of the buildings, and investigators have video of him inside both buildings at the time of the crimes.
NBC 4 New York reports that Ubiles has also made statements implicating himself.
The charges include 12 counts of burglary as a hate crime, 12 counts of arson as a hate crime and 12 counts of criminal mischief as a hate crime.
Ruben Ubiles — who has been arrested about 50 times, most recently for stabbing his girlfriend’s foot — was taken into custody Wednesday morning and taken to Brooklyn’s 81st Precinct stationhouse in Bedford-Stuyvesant, where he was questioned about the burned religious objects.

What happened to “3 strikes and your out”? 50 times? I bet his mom is saying what a good person he is
@takingabreak: You mean, What a good boy” he is. Never got into trouble before.
The judges who let him out should be put on trial
I had a neighbor who’s kid pulled a gun on an off duty Cop when he got caught stealing his car. The officer shot and killed him. The mother wailed and cried how he was such a nice boy. LOL he was the better of the 4 brothers in the family. B’H Only one made it past his 35th birthday
He was arrested 50 times, but how many of these led to a felony conviction?
