A purse snatcher struck at a Southfield market, but a Good Samaritan went above and beyond to catch the suspect.
Aron Tobin, who owns an auto parts remanufacturing company in Roseville, said he had just pulled into a parking space at the One Stop Kosher Market at 10 Mile and Greenfield in Southfield when he saw a man yank a purse off the shoulder of a woman who had two kids with her and was just about to load groceries in her car.
“I heard someone screaming, ‘Help me! Help me!'” Tobin said. “I saw a woman with two young kids, so I sprang into action.”
“He went over to her, ripped the purse off her shoulder,” he added. “I saw him take the bag, and he started running across Greenfield.”
Tobin jumped in his car and began to chase the suspect down Greenfield. The suspect made a 180 degree turn and doubled back across Greenfield, so Tobin parked his car in the middle of the street and took off after him.
“He kind of slowed down when he looked over his shoulder. I was running full speed after him. I was able to jump on him, tackle him to the ground, and then I got an arm behind his back. Then another man came over and helped me. He sat on his back till the Oak Park Police showed up,” Tobin said.
“She was very appreciative, and her husband called me this morning to thank me.”
The manager at One Stop Kosher Food Mart said last week the same guy snatched another purse, that time with an accomplice.
Tobin is without a doubt the hero of his community. He is getting handshakes and high fives from strangers. He got a free coffee from his local coffee shop, and One Stop Kosher Food Mart made him the honorary chief of security for a day.

Why would YWN report that a frum Jew is a “good Samaritan?” The guy that stopped the thief was a good Jew.
This guy must be a zionist or something. No “Torah True Jew” would ever act in such a “Kochi V’Otzem Yadi” type fashion.
He should have just watched the criminal act while reciting tehillim and wait for the lightning to strike.
The “Samaritan” weren’t too good. He was a good Yid.
crisis, your post is pure sinas chinam.
The Torah itself says “haBa liHargicha hashkeim liHargo”. Granted, that does not directly apply to purse-snatching, but the use of force is not always prohibited.
Yaakov Avinu was certainly a Torah True Jew and he prepared for war.
The Zionists, liHavdil, forgot, among many other things, the daron and tefillah parts of Yaakov Avine’s prep, not to mention hisgarus baUmos, et al.
You must be confusing the Torah with, liHavdil, Christianity’s turn-the-other-cheek?
crisisoftheweek comment is degrading and should be taken down.
Also the Samaritans were not very good to the Jews.
