The Bronx district attorney is scheduled to unseal an indictment against a former state assemblyman and an attorney says it is part of a larger New York political corruption case.
The indictment is to be unsealed Wednesday afternoon.
Attorney Michael Farkas says it will be a prior indictment against his client, former Assemblyman Nelson Castro. Castro has said he was indicted in 2009 for perjury from an earlier civil case.
The Bronx Democrat resigned last week after he said he cooperated with federal officials in a bribery case.
Last week, Bronx Democratic Assemblyman Eric Stevenson was arrested in a bribery investigation. The case was based on a then-unnamed assemblyman charged with crimes who cooperated with the understanding that he would resign with the arrests of Stevenson and four other defendants.
