A field hospital has been set into place at Outpost 105 in the N. Golan Heights, the AFP news agency is reporting. According to the report, Israel has already treated 11 Syrians at the facility, the spillover from the ongoing civil war in Syria. One of the victims taken to Rebecca Ziv Hospital in Tzfas on Wednesday, 16 Nissan 5773 died of massive injuries. A second Syrian was reported in critical condition on Wednesday night. A number of others were treated at the border hospital and released on Wednesday as well.
Doctors at Ziv explain the injured arriving on Tuesday sustained serious head injuries in addition to gunshot wounds.
Officials in the IDF Northern Command expect the flow of Syrian wounded to the border seeking medical care to increase as the fighting in the border region continues to escalate.
The IDF plans to continue providing humanitarian assistance whenever possible, under very heavy guard with the realization that not everyone seeking to cross the border may be “innocent wounded.”
