For the 41 Israelis on board a bus that was stuck in the snow at the Hungary-Austria border for 20 hours, the trip will be a most unforgettable one. The bus was traveling on the M1 Highway near the Austrian border when they got stuck in the storm. Post Chadashot reports they and a number of locals with them were eventually rescued by members of Zaka’s international unit.
The tourists were heading to Austria for a one-day visit. When they got about 100km (60 miles) from Budapest the bus got stuck in heavy snow. Hundreds of vehicles were backed up on the roadway. Some of the passengers succeeded in contacting Israeli consular officials to inform them of the situation but the harsh weather conditions delayed the rescue considerably.
Over 100,000 homes were without electricity due to the heavy winter storm. The bus passengers, including pregnant women and small children explain the cold was most difficult as they waited hour after hour for help to arrive.

That sounds scary! I guess they approached this border having toured a historical point in location where so many yidden have escaped to in 1956. That is exacctly what it looked like and felt like in 56′ at that precise spot when pple ran away from the hungarian revolution to escape communist hungary. they ran to vienna. from there they travelled to their permanent new homelands. The difference though is that then they escaped to save their lives and yiddishkeit. I’m sure these pple were able to picture and envision well what it must’ve felt for yidden escaping a communist world where their life was at risk every minute of the day. B”H they too are safe.
very nice and thoughtful comment, Geula
