Judy Nir Moses, a popular radio host and wife of Likud Minister Silvan Shalom is not a fan of Yesh Atid MK Rabbi Shai Piron to put it mildly.
The story begins with a Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) report, explaining to listeners that back in 2002, during the Second Intifada, Rabbi Piron was among the rabbonim who responded to Halachic questions on the dati leumi affiliated Kippa website.
A question was posed to Piron regarding the permissibility of selling an apartment in Haifa to an Arab. Rav Piron responded one should not sale a home to an Arab, citing the prohibition of ‘לא תחונם’, explaining that in light of the current reality (in 2002), such an act would be in the realm of a חזקת איסור.
Moses used that report to lash out against Piron, calling him racist and unsuited to serve as the person responsible for the education of Israeli children.
In response to the report and attack by Moses, Rabbi Piron’s office explains “The Kippa website regularly responds to Halachic questions. The respond given by Rabbi Piron reflects the Halacha, but it is not reflective of his personal viewpoint.

basically, Piron doesn’t abide by halacha
Hahaha!! Did he really say that?? ‘The halacha… is not reflective of his personal viewpoint’ – ??? In other words, he just admitted to being a complete kofer – perfectly suited to being a ‘rabbi’ of Ein Atid!
Piron is just a usefull idiot for the wicked Lapid! So now Piron is admitting that he’s a Kofer, and that grosser Tzadik Bennett is ignoring the Rabbonim & clinging to this bum anyway!
these attacks by the extremists are ludicrous. Rabbi Piron answered as per vthe halacha but said that he himself may not feeel this way, yet will abide by the halcha. How is that different from saying (as we should): I love bacon and ham but I cannot eat it because the torah says it is treif! That is how we must respond to issurim, that the reason for not doing it is because of the Torah. This is exactly what Piron said!
rabbiofberlin: That’s not what it says he said at all! To use your example: Piron- ‘The halacha says that bacon is forbidden to eat, but that doesn’t reflect my personal viewpoint’ !! What more do you expect from someone part of a party whose leader openly champions the reform…??
Rob, it’s not like saying “I love bacon and ham but I cannot eat it because the Torah says it is treif”. It’s like saying, “The Torah prohibits bacon, but I don’t like the prohibition. I think bacon should be permitted”.
