While it is not final until the ink dries, reports from ongoing coalition talks signal Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid is willing to compromise and he will accept a government with 23 cabinet ministers. During the elections, Lapid set his limit at 18, then signaling he would go to 20 but he remained unwilling to accept a larger number, explaining the national government must set an example towards belt-tightening and cutting spending.
After intensive talks with Likud/Beitenu, it appears Lapid had adopted a more realistic approach and will settle for 23 instead of 28, still a significant gain.
